Beach, Park or Backyard? Choosing a Setting for Your Small Tampa Bay Wedding

by | Sep 24, 2026 | Weddings

When couples contact me about a small wedding, they often know how they want the day to feel before they know where to hold it. Some picture a sunset on the beach. Others want a peaceful park or the comfort of their own backyard.

There are beautiful choices around Tampa Bay. Here are a few things I encourage couples to consider before picking their spot.

A beach ceremony

For couples who dream of sand and Gulf views, Clearwater Beach is hard to beat. The setting can make even a simple exchange of vows feel memorable. You can keep things relaxed or add touches such as flowers, photography or an arbor where the location allows it.

Think about your guests, too. Walking across sand may be difficult for some people, and beaches can be busy. If you’d like chairs or a setup, we can talk through suitable locations and any requirements before you make plans.

A beach is also a lovely place to celebrate a marriage that has already begun. This Clearwater Beach couple marked their vow renewal with a rose-petal heart and a sign that says, “We still do and always will.”

A park ceremony

If you’d like trees, shade and a waterfront view, consider a park. Philippe Park in Safety Harbor and Anderson Park in Tarpon Springs are among the places we can discuss for an intimate ceremony.

The best choice depends on your group, the setup you want and the rules for that particular location. We can help you think through those details so the setting works for your day.

A backyard ceremony

A wedding at home can feel wonderfully personal. You’re celebrating in a place that already means something to you, and you can often make the space your own.

Questions couples often ask

Can I have chairs, flowers or an arbor?

Often, yes, although the options depend on the location and its rules. We can help you think through a setup that suits your ceremony, from a few chairs to flowers, photography or an arbor.

What happens if it rains?

For any outdoor ceremony, it is wise to have a simple backup plan. That might mean choosing a nearby covered space, using a tent where permitted or deciding in advance when you would move the ceremony indoors.

Can you help us choose a ceremony location?

Absolutely. Tell me about your guest count, preferred setting and the feeling you want for the day, and I can help you compare suitable Tampa Bay locations. When you’re ready, get in touch and we can talk through your ideas.

Which setting feels right for you?

Ask yourselves who will be there, how easily they can reach the ceremony spot, and whether you want a simple exchange of vows or room for a larger setup. Then think about the moment you’re most excited to share. Is it the Gulf at sunset, a gathering beneath the trees or a celebration at home?

At A Beautiful Wedding in Florida, we help couples create personal ceremonies throughout the Tampa Bay area. If you’re weighing your options, get in touch and tell me what you’re imagining. I’d love to help you find a setting that feels right for you.
