Jessica and Jonathon were married on December 11, 2014 at Lafayette Heritage Trail Park and I had the honor of being their wedding officiant.

Jonathon had contacted me a few months early about officiating their wedding in December. Then he broke his collarbone and they had to change some plans around to save some money. I suggested a Lafayette Heritage Trail Park Tallahassee Wedding Ceremony. They went to check it out and found it to be the perfect place for their small wedding.

Lafayette Heritage Trail park is located at the east end of Heritage Park Blvd. in the Piney Z Plantation subdivision. There you will find a small parking lot with 3 picnic shelters, a trailhead and bike wash, a small playground, and restroom. There is no cost to use the park for a wedding ceremony! You do need to contact the City of Tallahassee and apply for a permit: http://www.talgov.com/parks/parks-eventplanning.aspx. One of the fingerlakes with in the park make for a perfect wedding ceremony location. After the ceremony you and your guests can go to another location for a reception.

The weather on the day of Jessica and Jonathon’s wedding was PERFECT!! The sky was blue and clear and the sun was shinning. I had worked with Jessica to incorporate a sand ceremony and a place for them to say their own special vows to one and other.

They were a very loving couple and their vows to one and other were so touching. Jessica’s Dad walked her down the isle. She was very pretty wearing a white dress, veil, and Converse shoes (great idea so she could walk down the long path!). Everyone was joyful and happy to be a part of their special day. After the ceremony they took pictures, did their 1st dance, and cut their cake. Then there were going to Olive Garden for dinner (that’s their favorite restaurant so they were excited to have their wedding recption there).

Yay! Marriage Equality in Florida

Yay! Marriage Equality in Florida

News

On January 6, 2015 Florida began issuing same-sex marriage licenses. Every Wedding Officiant with our A Beautiful Wedding in Florida team was so excited for this to FINALLY happen. Throughout the years of officiating we’ve had many couples contact us to perform commitment ceremonies and notarize some other forms but sadly they weren’t able to be legally married in the state of Florida. Now things have changed and we are so excited for all the couples who have been waiting for this moment. We have already started booking same-sex wedding ceremonies throughout the Tampa and Tallahassee Florida area for the upcoming months, but today we we notarized our first same-sex marriage license in Leon County Florida. The couple, who asked to keep their names private, have been together for 11 years and were very happy to finally be able to be married. They got their marriage license a few days ago and today it was ready to be notarized. They asked me to meet them at their home early this morning before they went to work so they could bring the marriage license back and get the certified copy. They were a wonderfully pleasant couple and I was happy, and excited, to notarize their marriage license. They are planning to have a celebration with friends and family this coming Spring. So today we raise a toast to the first same-sex couple that allowed us to be a part of their special moment. We look forward to working many more wonderful couples! Yay for marriage equality in Florida!
