St. Marks Lighthouse Wedding Elopement

St. Marks Lighthouse Wedding Elopement

News

There are a lot of beautiful hidden gems around the Tallahassee area and St. Marks is definitely one of them! Mike and Jana have been together a little over 6 years and wanted to be married. They are going to do a formal wedding with family and friends in the future but for now they wanted an intimate St. Marks Lighthouse Wedding Elopement.

It was a rainy weekend, but we had planned to meet at St. Marks Lighthouse to their ceremony. They had asked a friend to join to take pictures after the ceremony. Fortunately it was not raining at the time of the ceremony! We walked up a small porch that overlooked the lighthouse and ocean and had a quick ceremony. The ceremony included two readings of beautiful poems.

I truly enjoyed being a part of this wedding. I hope more people looking to elope in Florida consider Tallahassee area and St. Marks Lighthouse because it is gorgeous.

I received an email from Mike, “Thank you. You made it very easy for us.”. This is always nice to hear ūüôā

Jessica and Jonathon were married on December 11, 2014 at Lafayette Heritage Trail Park and I had the honor of being their wedding officiant.

Jonathon had contacted me a few months early about officiating their wedding in December. Then he broke his collarbone and they had to change some plans around to save some money. I suggested a Lafayette Heritage Trail Park Tallahassee Wedding Ceremony. They went to check it out and found it to be the perfect place for their small wedding.

Lafayette Heritage Trail park is located at the east end of Heritage Park Blvd. in the Piney Z Plantation subdivision. There you will find a small parking lot with 3 picnic shelters, a trailhead and bike wash, a small playground, and restroom. There is no cost to use the park for a wedding ceremony! You do need to contact the City of Tallahassee and apply for a permit: http://www.talgov.com/parks/parks-eventplanning.aspx. One of the fingerlakes with in the park make for a perfect wedding ceremony location. After the ceremony you and your guests can go to another location for a reception.

The weather on the day of Jessica and Jonathon’s¬†wedding was PERFECT!! The sky was blue and clear and the sun was shinning. I had worked with Jessica to incorporate a¬†sand ceremony and a place for them to say their own special vows to one and other.

They were a very loving couple and their vows to one and other were so touching. Jessica’s Dad walked her down the isle. She was very¬†pretty wearing a white dress, veil, and Converse shoes (great idea so she could walk down the long path!). Everyone was joyful and happy to be a part of their special day. After the ceremony they took pictures, did their 1st dance, and cut their cake. Then there were going to Olive Garden for dinner (that’s their favorite restaurant so they were excited to have their wedding recption there).

Your wedding is YOUR day! We encourage you to do what you and your fiance want. So many times couples get caught up in what others want and “keeping up with the Jones” that they lose track of what brought them to the wedding. On October 25, 2014, I had the privilege of officiating two small and beautiful Tallahassee weddings.

Leann and Joseph got married at the Piney Z Lodge which is part of the Piney Z community center. There was nice outside green grassy space where the ceremony was held. The inside Lodge had plenty of space for tables, buffet, and dance floor. Leann and Joseph had friends and family helping them put everything together. It was very nice. They had special message next to a picture of Joseph’s mother whom died from breast cancer a few years ago. All the groomsmen wore pink ribbons in her honor. It was very touching. The weather was perfect for their outside Tallahassee wedding and I really enjoyed being a part of their special day.

Later that day I had the real pleasure of officiating Robin and John’s Tallahassee wedding. Robin and John had been together for over 20 years and finally decided they wanted to get married. They live in South Florida and traveled to Tallahassee for the wedding because John’s family lives in Tallahassee. The wedding was held at John’s sister’s house off Ansel Ferrel Rd. About 15-20 friends and family were gathered to witness the joyous occasion. John and Robin were so cute! When I arrived and met Robin in the bedroom she told me they had memorized all the vows; including the “repeat after officiant” parts! They were so excited and so in love. The ceremony was held outside in the grass. White chairs were lined up and under neath a beautiful tree. John and Robin impressed me by saying the vows that are typically repeated. After the ceremony Robin’s mother told me, “I never thought I’d see this day. I am so happy.” Tables were setup outside to have a lovely reception and celebration. It was truly an honor to be a part of their¬†small and beautiful Tallahassee weddings.

Tallahassee has MANY wonderful city parks which allow weddings to be held….typically at a reasonable price. On Saturday October 18, 2014, I was a part of a beautiful wedding at Dorothy B Oven Park in Tallahassee. Damaris and Charles had their wedding ceremony outside under the gazebo. The weather was GORGEOUS! White chairs were lined up in front of the gazebo ¬†for their outdoor ceremony. About 25 family and friends were present for their special day. They were a wonderful loving couple and I truly enjoyed working with them¬†on creating a¬†wedding ceremony that fit them perfectly….which included me ending their ceremony by saying, “I joyfully pronounce you husband and wife. You may now change your Facebook statuses. Charles you may kiss your bride.” Damaris had told me that she and Charles were big social media buffs to they were very excited about doing this. When I made this announcement they grabbed their phones and immediately update their statues. Everyone chuckled…it was pretty great!

Charles and Damaris are a great couple and I wish them MANY years of health and happiness together!!!

October Weddings in Tallahassee Florida

October Weddings in Tallahassee Florida

News

On Saturday October 4th, I had the honor of marry Lyndsi and Mike. They were a sweet couple with a beautiful wedding ceremony. October weddings in Tallahassee Florida are some of my favorite (thus why I chose to get married in October) because the weather is gorgeous. And boy was the weather PERFECT for Mike and Lyndsi’s wedding.

Mike and Lyndsi met each other while working at Esposito Lawn and Garden Center in Tallahassee. Because of this they asked me perform a unity tree planting ceremony. I did some research and came up with a beautiful unity tree planting ceremony that Lyndsi and Mike liked. Before the wedding, we met up to go over the final details and put the final touches on their ceremony.

Unity Tree Planting Ceremony

On the day of their wedding family and friends gather outside Shuster’s Cafe in Southwood. Lyndsi’s Dad owns the Shuster’s Cafe so they were able to have a BEAUTIFUL wedding outside on the grass then a reception inside the cafe. As guests arrived a three-piece string band played. Before, during, and after the ceremony a violinist played. The ceremony included the unity tree planting ceremony, a prayer lead by Lyndsi’s Dad, and a moment of recognition for those not physically present at the wedding.

Tallahassee weddings in October are gorgeous because the weather is typically sunny and cool.

Tallahassee Wedding at Mission San Luis

News

On Saturday, September 27th I had the honor of officiating Christine and Marcelo’s Tallahassee wedding at Mission San Luis. And boy was it beautiful!!!!

“A¬†visit to Mission San Luis transports you back to 1703. Your destination is a community where Apalachee Indians and newcomers from Spain lived together.¬†In recognition of its historical significance, San Luis received designation as a National Historic Landmark in 1960. Today Mission San Luis is the only reconstructed Spanish mission in Florida. As a living history museum it is devoted to sharing the stories of its former Apalachee and Spanish residents. Knowledge of life at San Luis over three centuries ago comes from intensive archaeological and historical research‚ÄĒthe site is the most thoroughly investigated mission in the southeastern United States.” From:¬†http://www.missionsanluis.org/

I had communicated with Christine for many months coming up with her dream wedding ceremony. We planned to do a surprise for the moms. So on the day of the ceremony I was very excited to do this. At the beginning of the ceremony, I recognized the parents and thanked them on behalf of Christine and Marcelo then they gave each of their moms a rose. It was very very sweet. Christine and Marcelo also participated in a sand unity ceremony where they blended to colors of sand to signify their joining together as one.

Not only is Mission San Luis a wonderful place to work with and the staff is always amazing. They had a wonderful team of vendors setup to make sure their Tallahassee wedding at Mission San Luis went off without a hitch. Our friends at Amplify Entertainment were the djs and provided me with a great microphone so all the guests could hear the ceremony. Kate and Ashley with A Piece of Cake Event Planning were there helping everything go smoothly. They were super helpful with getting the ceremony going and everyone lined up.

Christine and Marcelo are big FSU fans and their wedding happen to fall on the FSU vs North Caroline game- which started at 3:30pm and their wedding was at 5:30pm. When I arrived FSU was losing (gasp!!) and I told them that after the wedding we’d be winning…and sure enough we won the game!!! So not only to I officiate wonderful weddings, I officiate weddings that make FSU win games ūüėČ

If you looking for a great place with lots of options a Tallahassee wedding at Mission San Luis must be considered. I’ve officiated many weddings at Mission San Luis and there’s SO many locations to have the ceremony.

I loved being a part of Christine and Marcelo’s Tallahassee wedding at Mission San Luis. It was such a pleasure to get to know them and be their for them during such a happy moment. I wish them all the BEST!!!
