Same-sex Honeymoon Island Wedding Ceremony

Jessie and her partner, Inga, were coming to Florida to visit her Mother in Sarasota. They wanted a simple beach wedding. Jessie is from Canada and her partner is from Germany. They met almost two years ago when Jessie was traveling on business in Germany. They wanted us to do photos, officiant, and asked for suggestions on a nice beach to have the ceremony.

We decided on a sunset Honeymoon Island wedding ceremony in Dunedin Florida.  Monday was a beautiful night. Jessie and Inga were very pleased with the location. They couldn’t believe how beautiful the white sand was and how gorgeous the beach was. I performed the ceremony just as sun was setting.

As I was performing the ceremony I noticed two women on the beach watching the ceremony.  After the ceremony while George Sr. was taking photos they came up to me and said, “Thank you for marrying them; that was beautiful.” They were very much in love themselves and loved watching the ceremony. They asked if they could give Jessie and Inga a hug. Jessie and Inga were delighted and pleased to see how excited they were. They all hugged and shared congratulations.

Jessie and Inga were going on a road trip for their honeymoon. First they were driving their cool convertible that they rented down to Miami. They were then continuing down to Key West and then heading back to Canada. They were going to be having a large wedding at a later date in Canada.

Jessie and Inga were so pleased with our services. They asked for one last picture….them driving off in the sunset. They thanked us so much. They were a fun couple and we totally enjoyed being a part of their Honeymoon Island wedding ceremony.

Since January 6, 2015 when same sex marriages became legal in Florida it’s been such a pleasure to perform ceremony for all happy in love couples.

Qaadir & Sam have been together for fourteen years. They were giving up on seeing the day that they could be married legally in Florida and were more than delighted when same sex marriages became legal in Florida. When they called me they said they were two men and wanted to know if I would marry them. I said, “of course. I would.” They told me they were going to get married at the Pasco County Clerk’s office, but they were no longer performing wedding ceremonies at the courthouse. A number of counties clerks offices have elected not to perform wedding ceremonies any longer. So Qaadir & Sam came to my home and I legally and happily married them on February 7th.

After 14 years together, Qaadir and Sam were able to get legally married in Florida!

Crystal & Sue were married yesterday at Crystal Beach.  They wanted a simple ceremony out on the pier overlooking the water. After a few cold days Saturday afternoon was an absolutely gorgeous day for their wedding ceremony. Family and friends attended the ceremony and Sue’s cute little grandson wanted to be next to her as much as possible.

Sue & Crystal had written beautiful vows to say to each other during the ceremony. They were both so happy and I could see such a love that they share with each other. Crystal and Sue, and a number of guests, thanked me and said what a great ceremony it was.

We have a number of same sex marriages coming up and are so happy that we can now be a part of their special day and that it is legal for same sex couples to be married in Florida.

Vilmari contacted me in November asking me to perform a commitment ceremony for her and her partner, Catherine. The ceremony was going to be on December 27, 2014. I let her know that I was available and would be honored to perform her ceremony. We discussed location and spoke about same sex marriage legalization in Florida. I let her know that if same sex marriages become legal in Florida that I would be glad to legalize their marriage license at no additional charge. Vilmari let me know about the domestic partnerships papers that were available to same sex couples and that they had completed their domestic partnership papers giving them some legal rights. I enjoyed speaking and corresponding with Vilmari and learning what was available for same sex couples. I hoped for her, and many other same sex couples, that Florida would soon recognize and legalize same sex marriages.

On the day of the ceremony it was raining. Vilmari asked to have George Sr do photographs. We had to change locations from Clearwater Beach to a shelter on Sand Key Park. The weather didn’t take away from the love that Vilmari and Catherine shared with each other. They’ve been together for over a year, and have so much fun together.  Vilmari wore a pretty red dress and Catherine was casually dressed in black slacks with a tie. They exchanged vows and I introduced them as “The Morris”.

Vilmari e-mailed me as soon as she heard the news that same sex marriage was going to be legalized in Florida. I was so happy for her and Catherine. They do plan on getting their Florida Marriage License and  I look forward to seeing them again and legalizing their marriage license.
