Cheryl and Tommy were celebrating their 20 year wedding anniversary while vacationing in St. Petersburg from Massachusetts. Every 10 years Cheryl and Tommy renew their wedding vows. This year they would have their two children, Bridget and Kevin, vacationing with them so they wanted to include them in the celebration. I worked with Cheryl to create a perfect vow renewal ceremony package which included: Officiant, Photographer, Rose Pedal Heart in the grass, and Sand Ceremony Kit with Setup.
Cheryl asked me if I could perform a vow renewal ceremony with the children participating in the ceremony. She wanted to do a sand ceremony joining the family together and have each of them pour sand in center container. Cheryl asked me to provide sand ceremony kit and table. I sent her sand ceremony kit options to choose from. She chose a beautiful kit that had each family member’s name engraved on their own bottle and the family name engraved on the center bottle.
I corresponded with Cheryl periodically in preparing a meaningful ceremony. Before we commenced with the sand ceremony, I had the family join hands and read the following family poem.
A family is …..The sweetest feelings, The warmest hugs, Trust and togetherness
Unconditional love
The stories of our lives written on the same page
The nicest memories anyone has ever made
Treasured photos
Thankful tears
Hearts overflowing with all the years
Being there for one another
Supporting and caring
Understanding, Helping, Sharing
Walking life’s path together
And making the journey more beautiful because …..
We are a family…..
And a family is Love.
As I read the words, I could see how much they meant in Cheryl and Tommy’s eyes. Kevin (19) and Bridget (17) were typical teenagers. Very nice but had some chuckles in their faces as I was reading.
Their vow renewal ceremony took place overlooking the water at the home they were renting in St. Petersburg. I prepared a rose petal heart on the grass. We even saw a manatee as Megan was taking photos. It was a beautiful day and Cheryl, and family thanked Megan (photographer) and myself for a wonderful ceremony, and great job.
