In early November, Valerie called me asking me to help with her December wedding. She was trying to coordinate a time that her family would be in town for the holidays, an affordable beautiful location, and hire me as her Officiant. After a few phone calls and emails, the date was decided- 12/23/14. I had told Valerie to check out Lichgate on High Rd as a wedding location, she did, and loved it! The people at Lichgate on High Rd are SOO very nice and they allowed her to do the wedding there on that day even though it was supposed to be closed for the holidays.
Valerie and Andy are an awesome couple. We meet up before the wedding to talk about the ceremony and go over a few details.
On the day of their Lichgate On High Rd Tallahassee wedding it was RAINING! Not just a little rain but A LOT of rain and it was not going to stop. I even called Valerie to confirm that everything was still one…and she said yes. Lichgate has a small cottage so that’s where we were going to do the wedding. When I arrived at Lichgate and went into the cottage it had just stopped raining for the first time all day! I asked Valerie if everyone that was coming was here and if she would want to start early so we could go outside and do the ceremony under the tree. Everyone thought this was a great idea so we rushed outside. Valerie’s father walked her down the isle. She wore her sisters wedding dress and held sun flowers. It was a very beautiful and intimate ceremony. We got through the ceremony without rain and were even able to take a few pictures outside underneath the gorgeous Lichgate tree then at 4:07pm it started pouring (ceremony was originally scheduled for 4pm) so everyone rain back into the cottage. Valerie and Andy continued to take pictures inside the cottage.
Rain on your wedding day is not ideal (they say it’s good luck), Valerie and Andy were in great spirits and we all made the best of it! The next day they emailed me and thanked me for working with them to make the ceremony happen as they had wanted.
