First Honeymoon Island wedding ceremony of the Fall

First Honeymoon Island wedding ceremony of the Fall

In March, Nicole hired me to officiate her Honeymoon Island wedding ceremony on October 3rd at sunset.  We corresponded periodically over the summer in preparing their ceremony vows.  Nicole and Adam were traveling to Florida from Indiana. Nicole loves the ocean and even asked me in our correspondence about advice on moving to Florida.

This past Saturday was a picture perfect evening. The humidity had gone down and we had no rain! About 20 guest attended their Honeymoon Island wedding ceremony. They had three bridesmaids and groomsmen.  The bridesmaids wore a lavender colored dresses and held bouquets with calla lilies and roses. Nichole had a larger bouquet with same type of flowers. The colors were beautiful with the beach sunset atmosphere.

Adam’s Dad walked Nichole down the aisle. Nicole and Adam stood in front of the four post bamboo poles with white draped fabric that was overlooking the ocean right at sunset. Nichole wanted to remember her Dad, “who was absent physically, but remembered in their thoughts and prayers his loving presence.” They also asked to remember their dog “Chevy” who is no longer with them, but remembered as their baby. As a dog lover I thought this was a very sweet sentiment.

The moment Adam saw Nicole he had tears in his eyes. He was tearful throughout most of the ceremony. The love they have for each other was so true and seen in both of their eyes. Their ceremony was very emotional. After the ceremony they were having a reception at Frenchy’s restaurant on Clearwater Beach.

Nicole and Adam met online plentyoffish.com. They have been together for two years and completely enjoy one another’s company. Before returning back to Indiana, they were going to Disney World and the other Orlando theme parks.  They had spent almost a week in Florida already and loved it.

Nicole and Adam thanked me for a beautiful Honeymoon Island wedding ceremony and I thanked them for allowing me to be a part of it for it is always a pleasure to see love in bloom and participate in the union of two people so well suite for one and other.

Since January 6th when same sex marriages were legalized in Florida I’ve had the opportunity to officiate a number of same sex wedding ceremonies in the Tampa area. I had performed commitment ceremonies for same sex couples prior to legalization. Officiating same sex wedding ceremonies has been very eye opening for me as I see these couples with so much love for each other and how much it means to them to be married. This was never an option for them and now they have the same opportunity that a man and a woman have…to be married!!!.11176367_443434369157145_1525122755_n

I performed a Honeymoon Island Wedding Ceremony the other night for two men, who were so happy to finally be able to be married. David & Mark were married Saturday night at Honeymoon Island in Dunedin. David text me when he got to the Court House to tell me they got their Florida Marriage License. They were so excited! He again text me hours before the wedding and confirmed everything one last time. I could see how much it mean to them. When I met them, Mark wasn’t smiling and David was beaming!!! I said, “Come-on Mark, smile.” David assure me that he is like that all of the time. Hah!

As I was performing their wedding ceremony, I could see so much emotion between them. David continued to smile. When it came time for Mark to say his vows he could barely speak. He burst out crying. It was so sweet. I had them hug before continuing on with the ceremony. After David said how taken back he was at Mark crying. They were both so happy.

They e-mailed me later that evening “We loved the ceremony this evening! Thanks for all you did to make this so special for us. This was more than I ever dreamed on the beach at sunset. Still…..gleaming with excitement!!”

Saturday was a beautiful day for a Honeymoon Island wedding ceremony. Louis & Joni were married at sunset on Honeymoon Island. They met 10 years ago on matchmaker.com. He is from Montreal Canada and she is local Palm Harbor-ian. Joni is a freelance writer and had a few particulars she wanted in the vows, and some not. She didn’t want to have any reference to money in the vow piece. She asked to omit the richer or poorer and replace it with, “my heart will be your shelter, and my arms will be your home.”

It was a Pinterest wedding. They had made an arbor out of branches and intertwined them together. The arbor was accented along the sides with little flowers. A fabric banner was that says Love/Amour made out of paper flags was along the side the sides of the arbor. They had pink, green and white pin wheels placed alongside the white chairs, and another wooden sign at entrance to chairs saying “by the sea I pledge my love to thee”

Joni sent me a message saying, “Charmaine. You did a great job leading us through the vows for our wedding and also communicating with us beforehand”

I hear quite often “I can’t afford to get married right now.” What’s to afford? Yes, you do have to get a marriage license, but everything else can be affordable. Maybe not elaborate, but affordable. Especially here in Florida. We have so many beautiful parks, beaches, gardens and even backyards that are great places for a wedding that have minimal cost involved. The main focus is to be married isn’t it?!

This past weekend, I performed a wedding on Saturday for Malania and Jimmy at their home in New Port Richey. They have been together for over five years and wanted to be married. A few friends and family members were guest. They kept it simple. There were cupcakes and champagne and everyone was just enjoying being together with the select people that were invited. I took a few photos for them with their camera and they were very happy.

Later in the day, I performed a ceremony for Penny and Stanley at Honeymoon Island in Dunedin. They also kept it simple. They had the beauty of the beach and had friends take photos for them. They were going out together with friends after the ceremony, but hadn’t made any plans on where.

The brides for both weddings didn’t wear wedding gowns. They did both wear smiles and I could see the genuine love they have for their now spouses.
